Lily Jade Bag Comparison- The Caroline, The Anna, and JuJuBe Backpack
It’s that time again! One of our favorite types of posts is our bag comparison post! In this comparison, we have our Lily Jade Caroline in vegan Camel, the JuJuBe vegan Million Pockets Backpack in Caramel Latte, and our Lily Jade Anna (medium) in Old English Leather.
As you can see right off the bat, while all these bags have similar functionality, they have completely different styling. Let’s take a look at the various features as we break down each one for you.
First, we’ll take a look at aesthetics. The Caroline has a tall tote look, but features deep pockets and flat bottom to easily hold all your gear without slumping over like a traditional tote bag. The JuJuBe definitely has a crossover look to it. It’s rounded body is reminiscent of a backpack, but it’s tall body and longer handles also gives it a tote-like feel as well. The Anna is a true backpack style that is a sleek and elegant twist on a classic.
Up close, you’ll see the Lily Jade pockets have an integrated approach that lay flat when not in use. The Caroline also has a magnetic closure “vanishing pocket” (see that stitch line above the two front pockets?) in front that is super handy for sliding important items securely within reach. The generous side pockets allow for water bottles without compromising the interior space. The pockets on the JuJuBe are more pronounced and are visible from its profile. The Anna has two side pockets and a front zip pocket. Both the Lily Jade bags feature a strap pocket across the back to tuck in the backpack straps when you want to change the look and use a crossbody strap (included with purchase) or the tote options with the top handles. Lily Jade also has a collection of woven cotton and nylon straps that provide an extra measure of customization and comfort to your crossbody carry, adding a splash of color, and an easy way to create a "fresh new look" to your well loved Lily Jade bag.
Next, we’ll note the finishes on the bags. Both our vegan bag and leather bag have our signature leather tassels with hand polished stone beads. Our zippers boast our embossed Lily Jade logo on the leather pull tabs as well. The Million Pockets bag indeed has many places for storing things, but also includes many zippers for these exterior pockets which highlights all the pockets. Our reviewers have noted that the Caroline is very lightweight and our community has said that people constantly assume it is real. Our Old English Leather is just truly classic natural leather with the potential to patina and get softer with time. The JuJuBe bag is super smooth, however the texture does come off as being much more faux than the original, as it rubs and squeaks if it is set it down a certain way. It was also noted that when packing anything in it, the bag tended to stretch out and become misshapen. And where the zipper pulls lay, it leaves marks or dents on the material, after using it on a trip as a carry-on, it had so many “dents” in it afterward.
Now, onto comparing functionality! The JuJuBe Million Pockets bag and The Anna Medium backpack both feature the dual design compartments in the main body of the bag. However, Anna’s interior is divided in half and the back half fully unzips down the whole length of the bag. Now you can separate and organize your baby gear, work materials, gym clothes, and everyday items into their designated side of the bag. Reviewers also noted that the Million Pockets Bag is a bit heavy, even when not packed with much gear inside.
As for spaciousness, you can see the Caroline and Million Pockets are generous and roomy. Note our images highlighting that 3 towels fit easily in each bag. The Anna admittedly is more petite as it can only handle 2 towels. As mentioned before, the side pockets on the Lily Jade bags handle a large water bottle more easily than the JuJuBe. Note the water bottle doesn't fit all the way down into the bottom of the pocket.
Clearly, there are all kinds of preferences and wish lists for how a diaper bag can serve you. Isn’t it wonderful where we live in a world where there is a bag for each individual's style? Which bag do you like best?
