Family Valentine’s Party
Do you have any special traditions or plans for Valentine’s Day? We know this past year has been untraditional in so many ways and you may be wondering how you can make this upcoming holiday special. One fun way to celebrate is to make it a love fest with your family. You can do that right where you are or go out for fun food and shakes if you are able. But either way, you’ll make lasting memories with the ones you love. One way we want to help is to offer these FREE printable Love Notes in case you missed it earlier this year.
One thing to keep in mind is to do something out of the ordinary. It doesn’t have to be complicated, but when it’s not something you do everyday, it makes it exciting-- flowers on the table, a fun tablecloth, or even a cute banner can make your kids feel special.
If you’re at home, you can still make it a fun time for everyone by making and sharing cards with each other! You can mark separate containers- boxes, baskets, bins or even little mailboxes-- for each family member, and then set aside an afternoon to decorate and write cards to one another-- you can get stickers or stencils to make it unique. Choose one trait you really like about that family member and tell him or her. You can also add fun Valentine surprise treats in the mailboxes too. Designate a time to sit down and open up the notes and treats!
Food is part of any celebration and you can find so many “seasonal” foods in the store, but you can also make things fun just by adding chocolate! You could make your own homemade chocolate fondue (or pull out that chocolate fountain if you’ve got it!) and dip fruit and treats into chocolate! You can also make a fun charcuterie style “love board” with treats with a range of options for everyone. Or consider a Valentine’s Day Brunch and add a side of strawberry milk or “Cupid’s Hot Chocolate.”
Consider being a courier of joy to others this season as well. Make treats, write cards, and deliver flowers or chocolate fruit plates to elderly neighbors, single friends and family, as well as anyone who may be spending the day alone this year. It gives us all the chance to look outside of ourselves, love our people, and delight those around us.
This year, since it falls on a weekend, you could plan a family party AND a Home Date Night after the kids are in bed.
