Family Snack Plate
Does a new year bring a sense of excitement or dread for you? Maybe you have committed to healthier eating habits (for you or for your family), maybe you’re going to try to declutter and tackle some home projects. We can’t help come over and organize, but we DO have some fun ideas about food that is sure to be a family favorite. Sometimes new year’s resolutions start out fine, but soon devolve into resignation. We have a solution that we think will be fun and sustainable throughout the year: The Family Snack Plate.
With just a quick trip to your local grocery, you can have delicious, healthy food that everyone will enjoy.
Yes, it’s basically a kid-friendly charcuterie board. You can make this in so many different ways and customize to fit the needs of your family. It’s so versatile for after school, lunch on the weekends, family movie night, or even a quick weeknight meal. It’s fun to change up the ingredients for holidays and switch out produce based on what’s in season.
Have you heard that kids eat in color? Offering a variety of options on a large communal platter gives them the chance to explore new things with low commitment. The best way to deal with picky eaters is through consistent exposure and the choice to opt-in. Try offering healthy options without forcing mandates to “eat it all” but rather “try a bite.”
