Wreath Making Party
Have you ever tried your hand at a wreath making party? You can gather with friends AND leave with the perfect holiday décor. It's a win-win situation! You can make your supply list, grab a bunch of extras for friends and include them in the fun OR you can even make a sign up and have everyone contribute supplies to make hosting a little less hectic.
Here are some supplies you will need:
- Gather various fresh greenery: pine, berries, eucalyptus, fir etc. {you can also use faux greenery as an alternative}
- Get a wreath frame. The thicker the frame the wider the wreath will be {e.g. one bar will be more minimalistic.}
- Wire cutters
- Florists wire (craft stores have it cheap!)
- Small decorations {bells, ribbon, holly berries, pine cones, dried fruit, ornaments, etc.}
Keep in mind one great tip for sourcing greenery is Christmas Tree Farms! They tend to have chopped scraps they they don't need. Trader Joe's is another great place to grab some greens!
For fresh wreath making here are some basic steps:
- Work clockwise with the stems facing clockwise.
- Tie each bunch of greenery to the wire frame to secure it. Stagger different ones for more texture and volume.
- It helps to layout your idea beforehand so you can see what to add next.
- Next layer your decorations by adding cute bells, ribbon/ bows, etc.)--this is where your style and personality shine!
**Don't forget to spray your wreath with water daily to maintain freshness for as long as possible! You want it to last as long into the season as possible.
Don't forget a hot chocolate (or even wassail) bar! You can have various flavors on hand with hot water in a thermos -or- you can make the base ahead of time and keep warm in a crockpot!
- Whipped cream
- Cinnamon Sticks
- Candy Canes
- Marshmallows
- Chocolate Chips
- Caramels
- Chocolate Syrup
For a fun twist, you can have guests bring holiday mugs to exchange as well!
Whatever you do, keep it simple and don't stress! The joy of gathering friends is always the goal of events. Building community, making memories and sharing experiences makes friends out of guests. What fun gatherings do you like to host? Tag us on social media! We love to see your ideas.
